The popular tradition of the ratafia and the continuity home-made elaboration of this special drink on behalf of people, have caused contests, fairs and festivals celebrations around this liqueur in many places of Catalonia.

In the city of Santa Coloma de Farners has more than 25 years celebrating the Fair of Ratafia. The fair is organized for the same Council of the City, and it’s considerate like a second Town Festival. In the fair take place, among other organizations, the association “Amics de la Ratafia” (Friends of the Ratafia) and “La Nou Verda” (The green nut).
Works through the years have made the memberships of the several associations, about the recovering and spreading, talking about this drink, has been really, outstanding.

In the city of Besalú, the tradition of the ratafía turns at “Serra del Mont” (Mont mountain range) around. In this pot, is where people can pick-up the herbs, flowers and other ingredients to prepare the liqueur. Since 1993, Besalú celebrate the “Fair of the Ratafia” which take place the first Sunday of December. In the fair, among lots of acts, people resident at this city can take place in a special inhabitant contest to know, what neighbour is the best ratafia’s elaborator.
